As the entry into force of the new global standard for the automatic exchange of information (“AEOI”) approaches, should Independent Asset Managers (“IAMs”) still worry about the tax compliance of their clients’ assets? Banks are equipping themselves with operational tools that will allow them to collect information under the new standard as of 2017, and the effective exchange between signatory states will take place as of 2018.
